Cryogenic storage tank is a vertical or horizontal double-layer vacuum insulated storage tank for liquid oxygen, nitrogen, argon, carbon dioxide and other media. The inner liner is made of austenitic stainless steel; the outer container is made of Q235-B, Q245R or 345R according to different user areas and national regulations, and the inner and outer containers are filled with insulating materials such as pearlescent sand or aluminum foil, heat preservation cotton and vacuum.

With the great development of liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry in recent years, as a clean petrochemical energy, LNG is more and more broad in terminal application fields because of its convenient transportation, flexible use, not subject to the constraints of the pipeline network, etc. The application of LNG in the transportation industry has the advantages of safety, environmental protection, long vehicle mileage, environmental protection and economic benefits; in the world's call for green, energy-saving and emission reduction. Under the background of the world's call for green environmental protection, energy saving and emission reduction, the expectation of using LNG as automobile fuel is getting higher and higher. The state actively promotes the implementation of energy saving and emission reduction and the policy of replacing oil with gas, which effectively promotes the use and development of natural gas as an alternative fuel for transportation. In this context, LNG storage tanks for automobiles have a broad space for development and utilization.

Storage tank is a kind of high vacuum adiabatic container for storing LNG, and the main structure contains inner liner and outer liner, with vacuum and adiabatic heat preservation type in the middle. At present, the maximum working pressure of the inner liner is 1.59MPa, and the calculated pressure is taken as 2 times of the maximum working pressure. The outer wall of the inner liner is wrapped with a multi-layer insulation material consisting of glass fiber paper and polished aluminum foil. The multi-layer material has the characteristics of low thermal conductivity, high thermal insulation performance and light weight under high vacuum conditions. The sandwich is equipped with palladium oxide and molecular sieve to prolong the vacuum service life. The outer shell is designed to form a sandwich space with the inner liner, which is used to ensure that the inner liner reaches the best insulation effect, and the better the effect, the longer the LNG will be stored in the tank.

The tank liner and shell adopt axial combination support (one end fixed, one end sliding), which can ensure that the tank will not be in operation because of the upsurge of the relative displacement between the liner and shell and structural deformation, as well as the liner due to the phenomenon of the cold shrinkage of the filled LNG and pull off the support and pipeline.

All external piping and piping accessories of the tank are set up at one end of the tank and protected by environmental protection ring or protective cover. The piping system is set up to meet the filling and supply of LNG.
